When I was a kid, my father had a cassette tape of Monty Python bits and songs. I always loved Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. I am humming it right now.
The bright side of…
having my hours at work trimmed back due to budget cuts: more time with the family. Plus I will still be making more than I was at my other job. And we never really adjusted our standard of living upwards over the last 7 months, so the sting was not as severe as it could have been.
the power steering going out in the car: we have no car payments, another car to fall back on and I can cover the potential cost of the repair.
Glee being on tonight: that’s it for me really, there was no downside here. It makes it even brighter that it’s the RHPS tribute. Of course, there will be a lot of moaning from Aldo about improbable high school scenarios and cheesy story lines, but he can go read Hemingway (he’s determined to work his way through all the classics).
nothing on Aldo’s MRI/ultrasound: it’s not MS.
timothy’s scraps of highly detailed cartoons littering the house and every surface of blank space on his school work: he was chosen to design the cover of the middle school newsletter. Also, it’s nice to be able to buy your kid a box of pencils and a ream of paper every year for Christmas and know it is an appreciated gift.
