Er, what’s that you say!? Ok, it cannot just be me that thinks that new asparagus sprouts look like little tiny penises (peni?). Oh, lord, I can only imagine the hits I will get from google searches on this post. Already my “fresh booty” post from last year is pulling in over 100 hits a day from people I am assuming want to look at brand new hieney. Anyhow, yes, asparagus! I have it! And it is grownin’ in my very own garden! Yippie!

Well, alright, so this one does not look too penis-y, but I swear the smaller ones do. I just have a crappy point and shoot camera so micro-photography is not really within my reach.
Aunt Sally gave me some of these little purple flowers two years ago, and this is the first year they have bloomed. I asked her what they were and she said she did not know, but they make a nice little mound and get little purple flowers. They are a division from something in her grandmother’s garden, like everything else she gave me. Anyone know what they are so I can stop calling them “little purple flowers”? She also gave me these, which she called “pinks”. I thought she was saying mountain pinks, but they sure don’t look like mountain pinks to me. I suspect they are some sort of carnation? Dianthus?

And, just because they are so super awesome…
The newest batch of irises to bloom. I looovvveeee that blue one on the right, but it looks like that is the only one I have got thus far. The other ones are a lot like the ones near the garage, but they have a more bronze/purple colored standard where the ones near the garage have more yellow fading to white standards and much heavier “tiger striping” on the falls.

Those little purple flowers are lovely. And yes, you are in for some freaky hits. Crazy, isn’t it?

snort, asparapenis, I’ll be laughing over that all day! (Which rocks since I’m braced for a day of mad-chaos at work).
The black is a little annoying but I’m trying to do my part see here http://fluorophore.wordpress.com/2008/04/24/blackle/
I’m going to pretend I haven’t just discovered that you haven’t read my blog since April…

Are the purple flowers anemone/windfloers? The leaves make me think so, although I’m not sure about the blossoms. Because I am a garden nerd:

I have long connected asparagus with peniseseseses, especially the thicker stalks when they first…er…come up. My Ichiban eggplants are also very penile. I feel like I need to apologize to them when I harvest them.
